Roy Craig Gravley, 82, of the Warwoman Community, Clayton, died February 20, 2012. He was born in Pickens County, SC to the late Roy and Kancie Galloway Gravley.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by three sisters, Helen Owens, Gail Sanders, and Inez Beasley.
Survivors include his wife, Louise Houck Gravley, of the home; two daughters, Lynn Speed (Tim) of Clayton and Lisa Dryman (Norman) of Clayton; one granddaughter, Sophie Speed, of Clayton; one brother, Bill Gravley, of Lakemont; three sisters, Belle Barnes of Charlotte, NC, Sarah Smith of Tiger, GA, and Harriett Dayton of Clayton, GA.
The body is at Hunter Funeral Home where the family will receive friends from 7until 9pm on Tuesday, February 21.
Funeral Services will be at 2pm on Wednesday, February 22, 2012, at Battle Branch Baptist Church. The body will be placed in church to lie in state from 1 PM until the funeral hour. Burial will follow in Hale Ridge Cemetery.

J.W. “Buddy” Cannon 75, of Lakemont, died Sunday, February 19, 2012. He was born in Rabun County and was the son of the late Percy Carlton, Sr. and Effie Bradley Cannon.
He was preceded in death by two children and by a sister, Mildred Coalley.
Survivors include three sons, Steve Cannon of Stockbridge, GA, Kevin Cannon of Gainesville, GA and Terry Cannon of Kentucky; one daughter, Shelia Cannon Bassett, of Clayton, GA; two brothers, Percy C. Cannon, Jr. of Sugar Hill, GA and Theodore Cannon of St. Augustine, FL; one sister, Ruth McDonald, of Duluth, GA; and several grand children, great grand children, nieces, nephews and cousins also survive.

May Belle Coleman English, 87, of Clayton, GA died February 19, 2012. She was born in Rabun County and was the daughter of the late Frank Pinion and Mary Montana York Coleman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, George Porter English; a son, George English; and two brothers, Frank Coleman Jr. and Thomas Coleman.
Mrs. English is survived by two sons, Jerry English and his wife Sue of Clayton, GA, Glenn English of Clayton, GA; a sister, Ethel Hopper of Clayton, GA and a very special niece, Brenda Shirley also of Clayton, GA. Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 2 step-grandchildren, 9 great-grandchildren and 7 step-great-grandchildren.

Lou Bell Alexander Dotson, 93 of Mountain City, GA died Thursday, February 16, 2012.
She was born in Habersham County, GA and was the daughter of Alvin and Drucilla Warren Alexander.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas Lenwood Dotson, Sr., and a brother, Emanuel Alexander.
Lou Bell is survived by one son, Thomas Lenwood Dotson, Jr.; three daughters, Linda Lou Dotson Merck of Gainesville, GA, Reba Dotson Ramey of Lakemont, GA, Drucilla Dotson Graham of Colorado Springs, CO; a brother, John P. Alexander, of Macon, GA; and two sisters, Mildred Donaldson of Mountain City, GA and Susan Taylor also of Mountain City, GA. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his loving wife, Melanie June Goss Benfield; two children, a son, Madison Benfield, and a daughter, Mariah Faith Benfield, both of the home; and two brothers, John Benfield of Clayton, and Scot Benfield also of Clayton.

Wallace Sharp, 91, of Waynesville, NC, died Tuesday February 7, 2012, in Dillsboro, North Carolina. He was born in Haywood County, NC to the late Oscar and Ollie Davis Sharp.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Louise Fisher Sharp; and by a brother, Hill Sharp.
He is survived by his wife, Hilda McConnell Sharp, of the home; two sons, David Sharp of Asheville, NC and Danny Sharp of Cherokee, NC; one sister, Edith West, of Waynesville, NC; three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Vivian Virginia Matthews Tatum, 94, of Walhalla, SC, formerly of Rabun Gap and Cornelia, GA died February 4, 2012. She was the daughter of the late Jay Brayton and Monnie Scarborough Matthews, Asheville, NC.
She was married to the late Wilmer Reginald Tatum, Sr. for 59 years. She and her late husband served in several capacities at Rabun Gap Nacoochee School from 1960 until his passing in 1994.
Other than her parents and husband, she was predeceased by four sisters, Helen Franklin, Hazel Franklin, Hazel Puckett, and Stella Waters; one brother, Jay B. Matthews, II; and one granddaughter, Regina Tatum Hopkins.
She is survived by two sons, Reg and Peggy Westbrook Tatum of Walhalla, SC and Tommy and Merry Bond Tatum, of Armuchee, GA; one daughter, Ginger and Bob Restall, of Ontario, Canada; three grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren. She was loved by many nieces, nephews and neighbors.

Elbert L. Sullivan, Jr. 70, of Rabun Gap, Georgia., affectionately known as “Sulley”, died Thursday February 2, 2012 at his residence. He was born in Poplarville, Mississippi to the late Elbert and Louise Parker Sullivan, Sr.
In addition to his parents, Sulley was preceded in death by a brother, Harold Sullivan.

Clarence C. (MOE) Carpenter, 73, of Ponderosa Road Rabun Gap, Georgia died Wednesday, February 1, 2012, in Mountain View Health Care, Clayton, Georgia. He was born, in Macon County, NC, to the late Henry and Florence Webb Carpenter.
Moe was preceded in death by three brothers, Junior, James and Robert Carpenter and by two sisters, Marie Hunnicutt and Elizabeth Carpenter.
He is survived by his wife Carrina Marcus Carpenter, of the home; three sons and their wives, Stacy and Cammey Carpenter and Eddie and Jeannette Carpenter, both of Rabun Gap, and Darryl and Rhonda Carpenter of Clayton; one daughter and her husband, Shelia and Jimmy Fowler of Wiley; four brothers, Carl Carpenter of Rabun Gap, Ervin Carpenter of Lakemont, Howard Carpenter of Dillard, and Bill Carpenter of Suches, GA; and one sister, Arizona Holt, of Clayton. Seven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nephews, nieces, and cousins also survive.

Margie was preceded in death by two sons, Joe and Daniel Morgan; a daughter, Cynthia Morgan; three brothers, Lemmie Rogers, Jimmy Rogers and Billy Rogers; and three sisters, Sally Rogers, Josephine Watkins and Jackie Sims.
She is survived by her husband, E.F. Fred William Bradley, 74, of Clayton, GA, died January 23, 2012 after an extended illness. He was born in Rabun County to the late Charles Bradley and Kathleen Wall Bradley.
Fred was preceded in death by two brothers, Bobby Bradley and Larry Bradley and one sister, Evelyn Bradley Echols.
He is survived by wife, Ruby Jiles Bradley; four children, Doyle Glenn Bradley and wife Tammy, Fredda Bradley Beck and husband Sam, Fred Steven Bradley, Dylan Garrett Bradley; two brothers, Jim Bradley and Mike Bradley of Atlanta; one sister, Judy Bradley Dotson; a special friend, Ann Bradshaw; six grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and a number of nieces and nephews also survive.

Deborah Ann (Debbie) Weatherly Burrell, 57, of Tiger, Georgia., died Thursday, January 19, 2012. She was the daughter of the late George Malcolm and Carolyn Ussery Weatherly. She lived most of her life in Rabun County.
She is survived by her husband, Glenn Steven (Dock) Burrell, of the home; one daughter, Lana Carolyn Burrell, of the home; one aunt, Bee Weatherly Broadrick, Tiger, GA; one first cousin, Linda Avant, of Clayton, GA; and two second cousins, Richard Avant and Stephanie Avant.
