Adam Wright, Vice President/General Manager

Adam Wright began his second stint at SKY 104 and WGHC in January 2010. Wright had previously been the Vice President and General Manager of the stations from 2003 through 2006.

Adam has worked for SKY 104’s parent company, Georgia Carolina Radiocasting, since 1997. He’s worked in Greenwood, Union and Seneca, SC; Franklin, NC; and Clayton, GA. He’s held the position of News Director, Account Executive, Sales Manager, Talk Show Host and has been a Vice President and General Manager.

Wright is a graduate of Robbinsdale-Armstong High School in Plymouth, MN and a graduate of Brown College in Minneapolis. Wright also attended The American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Pasadena, CA.

Wright began his radio career in 1993 working part time at KQRS in Minneapolis and WJON in St. Cloud, MN. Wright’s first fulltime radio job was as News Director at WTTN in Watertown, WI. Wright came to work for Georgia Carolina Radiocasting, SKY 104’s parent company, in February 1997 as a News Director in Greenwood. Since coming to work in this company, Wright has filed various positions at stations in Greenwood, Union, SC; Clayton, GA; and Franklin, NC. Over his career Wright has worked at stations in Iowa, Northern Minnesota and Southern Wisconsin.

Wright is the 1998 South Carolina Small Market News Director of the year and has been nominated for several other broadcast awards.

Wright has served every community he has lived in through positions on Chamber of Commerce’s board of directors, Rotary International and Civitan clubs. Wright currently sits on the board of Directors of Foothills Center of Performing Arts, The Greater Oconee Disc Golf club and is the tournament director of the South Carolina Disc Golf Doubles State Championship.

Adam currently lives in Walhalla with his wife Sara, who is a teacher at Walhalla Elementary School. They have three boys. Joseph is 13 and a student at Walhalla Middle School; Kallsen is five and in kindergarten and Parker is four and attends pre-school at Tender Loving Childcare in Walhalla.

John Durham, Morning Show

John was born in Hollywood, Florida and moved to West Union, South Carolina in 1979. He graduated from Walhalla High School in 1981, went to college at Tri County Technical College in Pendleton, SC and got his radio/television Degree in 1984. John also went to Brown Institute in Fort Lauderdale, Florida in 1983.

John has been working in radio for over 25 years at various radio stations in South Carolina and Georgia, including WKLY in Hartwell, Ga, plus WNEG and WLET in Toccoa, Ga. In South Carolina he worked at WCCP in Clemson, WGOG in Walhalla and WSSL, WANS and Power 93 in Greenville. John has been the host of the morning show on SKY104 since April 2006.

In his spare time, John likes to travel, read and surf the internet.

Katheryn S. Granberg, Advertising Sales Representative

Katheryn was born and raised in Roswell, Georgia, where she attended Roswell High School. She has since lived in ten different states, raised a son and daughter, while also being very involved in civic organizations.

Katheryn has work experience in many different fields, but primarily accounting in the construction industry. She switched gears to become a specialty food buyer in the mid 1980s, working in Chattanooga, TN and Denver CO.

In 1994, Katheryn moved to Clayton, GA in order to help care for mother with Alzheimer’s and fell in love with the area. She joined Sky 104 WRBN in January 1997, first working in sales, later combining sales and administration and hosting the Swap Shop program on Sky 104’s sister station, WGHC.

In 2005, Katheryn retired from the stations as advertising sales manager of WRBN-WGHC. She returned in a part-time sales capacity in 2006 and began hosting Sunday Morning Inspirations on WGHC in May of that year.

Katheryn was successful in a bid for Rabun County Commissioner Post 3, taking office January 1, 2009.

Jewell Wilbanks Speed, Office Manager

Jewell, a native of Rabun County, Georgia, started with Georgia-Carolina Radiocasting as office manager at WRBN/WGHC Radio in Clayton in 2004. She is a member of the Rabun County High School Class of 1969 and a graduate of Alabama’s University of Montevallo with a BS in Speech Language Pathology.

Jewell is married to Arthur Speed. They make their home in the Warwoman Community of Clayton and are members of Battle Branch Baptist Church, Clayton. She has one daughter, Sonya, and a thirteen-year-old grandson, Ben.

One memorable and exciting radio experience Jewell recalls is when, in 1961, the welcoming sounds of WGHC came across the airwaves of Rabun County, Georgia. She is now the smiling face behind the voice that greets you when calling Sky 104-WRBN.
